G.H.G. Architects PLLC .
GHG Architects is where I gained my first real world exposure to the practice and insight into how a small firm operates. I enjoyed the people and accrued an indispensable knowledge about the discipline. Working for this well established residential firm had fortified my understanding of residential wood framing and the elements that go into creating a home. When the time came I would decide to go in a different direction but would always carry this knowledge with me.
An architect’s knowledge spans a broad spectrum, encompassing trades, techniques, professional practices, and ethical responsibilities. My time at GHG Architects shaped my understanding of the profession in ways that contrasted with my academic experience at SUNY Buffalo. I was introduced to the complexities of approval processes, town zoning requirements, state codes, and client budget considerations. Through tasks such as taking existing measurements and producing construction documents, I encountered the real-world application of architectural principles. This experience strengthened my understanding of residential wood framing and deepened my appreciation for the many elements involved in creating a home.
